Our primary mission is to empower our clients to take control of challenging/ difficult areas in their lives through the use of skill-based, present-focused, goal-oriented, and scientifically-proven treatments.

General Practice

CHH is a private practice that offers specialized outpatient mental health treatment to adolescents and adults in the Philadelphia/Main Line area. We utilize relatively short-term, scientifically-proven treatment modalities to assist in stabilizing problematic behaviors and improve clients’ quality of life in the most effective and efficient way possible. We focus on collaborative, specific goal-setting and action-oriented treatment plans that center on behavior change.

Individual Treatment

In staying aligned with our mission to provide the most effective, cutting-edge treatments, both partners at CHH utilize evidence-based Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy models. Such models are the leading treatments in eating disorders (specifically Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-Eating Disorder), OCD, PTSD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and anxiety disorders. Clients in individual therapy can expect to gain an understanding of how his or her thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact and sometimes yield a negative self-image, unhelpful problem-solving strategies, and problematic behaviors. Please click the Treatment Specialties tab to read about these models further.

Family therapy

Family-based treatment (FBT) for Anorexia in teenagers and young adults also known as the Maudsley Method- is an evidence-based effective treatment for Anorexia. This treatment requires great commitment from families both in the home and joining the client in session. With the focus on exposure and weight restoration, both partners at CHH have seen success utilizing this method. Ultimately, this method assists the family in re-feeding the client to obtain health without excessive hospitalizations and puts him or her in a position to be able to obtain effective therapy on the underlying issues of the disorder which is virtually impossible when the client is still starving.

General family sessions: Often the client and therapist will plan to bring family members or friends to sessions for increased communication or to address a specific issue relative to his or her treatment plan goals. We do not practice general family therapy outside of family sessions for the individual client. CHH has working relationships with reputable family therapists in the area of who we can refer to if family therapy is a needed service.
