Substance Use Disorder, Abuse & Addiction

Substance use disorder, abuse, and addiction are complex issues with hidden problems that often emerge at any point across the span of adolescence and adulthood. Commonly misunderstood by the general public, addiction is a public health concern due to the harmful consequences that can become quite pervasive in a person’s life.

Varied degrees of motivation for change in addition to feelings of embarrassment, hopelessness, shame, guilt, and fear often prevent individuals who are struggling from seeking help. This unfortunate circumstance leads to the harsh reality of addiction—many individuals are isolated in a series of harmful behaviors and intense emotional pain. CHH serves to break that vicious cycle by utilizing each person’s unique strengths to obtain a life free from the chains of addiction.

As research guides our approach to treatment, the clinicians at CHH pull from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Functional Behavioral Analysis, Motivational Interviewing, and the Stages of Change. We practice from a harm-reduction model and design treatment plans that emphasize a healthy, well-balanced life.
